Inter are not hiding the fact that they will go after Paulo Dybala. As things stand, the Argentinian star would be out of contract in July. The Juventus brass stated that they would reprise the extension talks in February.
Giuseppe Marotta addressed the matter to SportMediaset before the Coppa Italia fixture against Empoli: “When a player of his caliber is nearing the end of his deal, it is normal for him to be linked to big clubs. We have a strong frontline that gives us guarantees for the present and the future. Our current strikers fit our needs. But we must be ambitious and search for players that could further raise the bar. It does not matter whether we succeed or not, but we must make an attempt.”
On top of Dybala, the Inter CEO also weighed in on two other targets: “I congratulate Sassuolo for how they are able to valorize their youngsters. It is natural for us to track players like Davide Frattesi or Gianluca Scamacca. We are working to strengthen the squad by paying attention to Italian talents. It is an aspect that is often overlooked in Serie A. We have a high-level football system overall. On the other hand, we have to recognize Simone Inzaghi’s merits and the fact that we already have a good team.”
Marotta also confirmed his upcoming extension with La Beneamata: “President Steven Zhang and I discussed it, and we are happy to continue together. This is a merry moment for everybody.”
