Inter Chief Marotta Lauds 2022 Despite Scudetto Slip

Inter CEO Beppe Marotta believes the club has had a positive 2022, claiming that the growth experienced is noticeable despite missing out on the Scudetto title by just two points last season to city rivals Milan.

Speaking to SportMediaset, the ex-Juventus chief revealed his evaluation of the Nerazzurri’s year.

“The judgment on this calendar year is positive, even if the icing on the cake has been missing, that is, the shield.” (via FCInterNews)

Inter did however manage to win the Coppa Italia and Supercoppa Italiana, which are obvious positives.

“However, we have conquered two trophies and above all we have taken another step forward in the growth in terms of values, determination and awareness of our means. The goal for 2023 is to be ambitious: it is not presumption or arrogance, but it is the history of the club that imposes it on us. The challenge with Napoli represents a heavy test bench, to be faced with the desire to do well and start on the right foot.”

Inter sit fifth in Serie A with 30 points after a sub-par first half of the season. They face leaders Napoli in a crunch top-of-the-table clash when the campaign resumes on January 4.
