Inter Close In On Lazar Samardzic Arrival

Inter could be on the verge of finalizing another massive midfield coup after prising Davide Frattesi away from Sassuolo earlier in the summer. In a major development, Fabrizio Romano claims Lazar Samardzic is close to completing a highly anticipated arrival from Udinese.

Following a clandestine meeting with the Friulians powerbrokers on Thursday, Inter have emerged as frontrunners to sign the 21-year-old. Juventus and Milan are Samardzic’s long-term admirers, but Simone Inzaghi’s men have taken concrete steps to overcome bitter rivals in this transfer tug-of-war.

Samardzic’s wish to continue his career at Giuseppe Meazza has given Inter a decisive nod. The Nerazzurri will cough out around €15 million to get the deal over the line, with the German-born midfield expected to undergo his medicals next week.

Per Romano, only the final details are missing before Samardzic puts pen to paper on a five-year contract. The Serbia international’s impending arrival could set the Inter midfield for the next decade.

Nicolo Barella and Frattesi are 26 and 23, respectively. With Samardzic on the brink of joining forces with the Italian duo, Inzaghi’s new-look midfield can inspire confidence within the Inter faithful. Beppe Marotta’s plan to build a promising and young engine room works to perfection.

Adding to this sentiment, Inter have removed two aging midfielders this summer. Marcelo Brozovic has moved to Al-Nassr, while Inzaghi’s team released Roberto Gagliardini upon the expiry of his contract.
