Inter Closing In on Three Major Contract Extensions

Inter have made progress in tying three of their significant first-team stars down to new contracts, says Piero Ausilio. In a recent interview, the Nerazzurri chief confirmed Federico Dimarco, Lautaro Martinez, and Henrikh Mkhitaryan are close to penning new deals at Giuseppe Meazza.

Dimarco, Lautaro, and Mkhitaryan are all close to extending their contracts,” the Inter director said, as quoted by Fabrizio Romano. “They want to stay, we want them to stay — so it’s just a matter of time.

All three players have been immensely significant to Simone Inzaghi’s set-up this season. Dimarco has nailed down a left-back position as his own. Mkhitaryan continues to defy his ages, forging a formidable midfield partnership with Hakan Calhanoglu and Nicolo Barella. And there’s no need to point out Martinez’s impact.

Serie A’s leading goalscorer has been in scintillating form in 2023/24, soaking up the limelight as the standout Inter performer. The captain has led by example as Inter head into Sunday’s mouth-watering clash against Lazio at the top of the table, one point clear of runners-up Juventus.

Following the Turin side’s 1-1 draw at Genoa, Inter can build a more comfortable lead at the summit. To make it three league wins in a row, Nerazzurri will heavily rely on the abovementioned trio to navigate an often tormenting setting that has been the Stadio Olimpico over the years.

Inter come into this game in fine form after demolishing Napoli and Udinese by an aggregate score of 7-0.
