Inter Concretely Start Discussing New Deal with Brozovic

Inter held the first formal summit with the entourage of Marcelo Brozovic yesterday. The Nerazzurri are eager to wrap up the negotiation since his contract is up in June 2022. They convened with a lawyer and the father of the midfielder, Sky Sport reports.

The sit-down was mainly introductory. Brozovic changed his representatives last April, and the front office had yet to meet them. Inter manifested their firm intention to extend his contract as they consider the player essential to their project. Both camps are optimistic about the outcome of the talks. However, they did not go into detail about the numbers right away.

The parties will have another rendezvous in the next couple of weeks. Inter would like to get a deal done before January to be more at ease. Brozovic would technically be able to secure a Bosman move elsewhere in just over a month. However, it is highly unlikely to happen given his strong bond with the team.

Brozovic could earn a raise up to €5.5M with his next contract, La Gazzetta dello Sport speculates. His wages could land between what Nicolò Barella and Lautaro Martinez got in their recent extensions. His agents will make their intentions known in the next meeting and could ask for slightly more. There would be plenty of suitors if he left for free. Inter are unwilling to participate in bidding wars. However, they seem to have the inside track on retaining their linchpin given the serene atmosphere between the sides.
