Inter Consider Immediate Move for Departing Juventus Star

Serie A champions Inter reportedly consider changing their initial idea of waiting for Federico Chiesa’s deal at Juventus to expire next summer. According to La Repubblica via Calciomercato, the Nerazzurri are contemplating making an immediate approach for the wantaway Bianconeri ace.

With Chiesa deemed surplus to requirements by Thiago Motta and omitted from Juventus’ squad for Saturday’s pre-season friendly against Brest, the transfer looks imminent, and Inter are ready to pounce. Beppe Marotta had initially thought about letting the 26-year-old’s contract run down before poaching him on a Bosman deal.

However, the circumstances have changed. Juventus are keen to cash in on their quicksilver forward in the coming weeks amid their stuttering pursuit of Borussia Dortmund speed demon Karim Adeyemi. Inter could help their fierce rivals raise funds for the 22-year-old German, but they’re unwilling to break the bank to sign Chiesa.

Inter boss Simone Inzaghi sees Chiesa as a potentially massive addition to his star-studded squad. But the Giuseppe Meazza outfit won’t come anywhere near Juventus’ €20-25 million asking price. They’d only open talks with the Bianconeri if Motta’s men offer them a discount, which could happen, given the situation.

Before Inter can start thinking of concretizing their interest in Chiesa, they must sort out several outgoing deals. Marko Arnautovic and Joaquin Correa are on the chopping block. Yet, both players have rejected proposals from Turkey and Saudi Arabia, throwing a spanner in Marotta’s bid to reinforce Inzaghi’s frontline this summer.
