Inter to Consider Selling Man United-Linked Denzel Dumfries

Denzel Dumfries could reportedly follow in the footsteps of Ivan Perisic in an expanding departing contingent at cash-strapped Inter. According to Calciomercato, the attacking-minded full-back has attracted interest from several Premier League sides, including Manchester United.

Dumfries enjoyed a stellar maiden season in Serie A after signing a multi-year contract at Inter last summer. He replaced Achraf Hakimi, who left Giuseppe Meazza to link up with Paris Saint-Germain a year ago.

During his first season in Italy, Dumfries clocked up five goals and five assists from 33 league appearances for Inter. One year in Serie A could prove enough to secure him another high-profile switch this summer.

The Nerazzurri paid PSV Eindhoven around £12.5m to sign the Netherlands star right under Everton’s nose. Yet, Dumfries’ future could still be in the Premier League, as Man United boss Erik ten Hag wants to land his compatriot.

As per the latest reports in England, the newly-appointed Red Devils boss has turned his attention to Dumfries after deeming £50m man Aaron Wan-Bissaka surplus to requirements.

Wan-Bissaka has flopped at Old Trafford and could be shown the door in the coming months. With Diogo Dalot being the only remaining option at a right-back position, it comes as no surprise that Ten Hag looks to add another face to his roster.

Inter are reportedly open to the prospect of selling Dumfries for the right price. It is said that the Nerazzurri would be willing to accept offers worth £26m.

Our take on Dumfries’ situation at Inter

Dumfries was one of Simone Inzaghi’s most-trusted allies last season. There’s no doubt the Dutchman would be an indispesible starter next year. Yet, the financial situation at Meazza is not great.

Inter may have to sanction swift sales of their prized assets to balance the books. And Dumfries seems to be the ideal candidate to hit the road.
