Inter Consider Summer Swoop for Two Torino Defenders

Inter will undergo a defensive overhaul in the upcoming transfer window, with two Torino center-backs reportedly landing on the Serie A champions’ radar. As per Tuttosport, via FCInterNews, Simone Inzaghi’s men have set their sights on Alessandro Buongiorno and Perr Schuurs.

Buongiorno would be a massive coup for Inter. He is an established Serie A defender at only 24 and is already a permanent first-team fixture at the Italy national team. However, his price tag would be a problem. On top of that, Milan and Juventus are interested in acquiring his services.

Buongiorno’s stock could skyrocket after the 2024 European Championship. If there’s a club president unwilling to budge on their asking price, it’s Urbano Cairo. He’s angling for €35 million. The figures could go up, which would probably deter Inter from making a move.

Schuurs is another name on the Inter shortlist despite enduring an injury-plagued season in Turin. Beppe Marotta kept close tabs on the Dutchman last summer, identifying him as a potential replacement for Milan Skriniar. However, the Nerazzurri eventually went after Benjamin Pavard after an opportunity presented itself.

Inter will have to dive back into the market for defensive reinforcements again. Francesco Acerbi underwent groin surgery on Monday. As a result, the ex-Lazio man will miss out on Euro 2024. He’s 36, which casts doubt on his ability to perform at the highest level after such a complicated injury.

Apart from Acerbi’s fitness problems, Inter must find a suitable replacement for Stefan de Vrij, who’ll turn 33 next term.
