After a rough start, Stefan De Vrij and the entire Inter defense bounced back in the last two matches. The Nerazzurri lowered their center of gravity.

Inter Defender Hopeful to Get Extension Despite English Ties

Freed of his legal troubles, Stefan De Vrij has shifted his focus to his future, and his priority is to get a new contract from Inter. He has 18-month left on his current one, making him a candidate to depart in the summer.

According to Alfredo Pedullà, the defender is surprised by the situation. The Nerazzurri and his agent Mino Raiola have been in talks since early 2020. However, they have not fully come to terms yet. The front office has prioritized other negotiations in the last few months.

De Vrij and Inter are not far apart on the figures. They have an agreement in principle for a slight pay bump to €5M per year, plus €1M add-ons. The defender is open to adding just one more year to his contract rather than demanding a long-term one.

The Dutchman is drawing interest from the Premier League, especially from Tottenham and his former coach Antonio Conte and Newcastle. However, he is comfortable in Milan and wishes to stay. On the other hand, the Nerazzurri would make a big profit on his sale since they got him for free from Lazio back in the day.

Inter are one of the most likely landing spots for Bremer, and they would not keep De Vrij if their chase was successful. Still, Torino are trying to drum up a bidding war for the Brazilian defender. The scouts of Tottenham and Atletico Madrid attended one of their recent matches and inquired about him, La Gazzetta dello Sport reports.
