Inter Enjoying Champions League Windfall, Eye Defender

Inter qualified for the elimination stage of the Champions League for the first time since the Zhang family acquired the club. On top of the sporting result, the management is counting heavily on the prizes from the European competitions to finance the club. Moving past the group phase is worth €20M on its own.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Inter had hypothesized either advancing or reaching the Europa League semifinal in their prospective budget. With the recent achievement, they cashed in €63M thus far, matching their forecast. The additional income would be extra and will be used in the transfer market next summer.

Instead, the club will be cautious in January. They will make additions only in case of departures. Matias Vecino could leave, and Nahitan Nandez would be the top target to replace him. Should Alexis Sanchez ask out to play more, Luka Jovic would be the easier objective to obtain. He would join on loan with option to buy from Real Madrid.

Inter are keeping a watchful eye on a few potential free agents in 2022. They have sealed the deal for André Onana. Moreover, they have laid their eyes on Borussia Moenchengladbach’s Matthias Ginter, Calciomercato.com reports. He is represented by Gordon Stipic, the same agent of Hakan Calhanoglu. The defender is also on Barcelona on Chelsea radar. The Nerazzurri recently made a serious move to put him under contract, Gazzetta informs. CEO Giuseppe Marotta has been following him since he was at Juventus.
