Inter Test the Waters for Three Barcelona Defenders

Recent meetings have taken place between the executives of Inter and Barcelona regarding the transfer of players. Both sides have been involved in talks for a long time now, with Franck Kessié, Marcelo Brozovic, Joaquin Correa, and Memphis Depay all at the forefront of talks, but three names have emerged from the most recent rendezvous between the clubs.

As per Barcelona-based outlet Sport (via FCInterNews), Nerazzurri sporting director Piero Ausilio has reportedly asked Blaugrana director Mateu Alemany about the availability of three defenders – Clement Lenglet, Samuel Umtiti, and Eric Garcia.

The trio could be low-cost options for Inter to strengthen their rearguard. Among them, Lecce loanee Umtiti has arguably shone the most this season, helping the minnows stay narrowly above the drop zone in Serie A.

The Nerazzurri are on a mission to boost their backline, with Milan Skriniar set to leave the club on a free transfer. Whereas, the futures of Stefan De Vrij and Francesco Acerbi are still yet to be concrete. Outside the negotiations between them, both Inter and Barcelona are closely eyeing the potential transfer of Inigo Martinez from Athletic Bilbao.
