Inter Evaluate Fiorentina Prodigy to Succeed Dumfries

Inter are in the dark concerning the future of Denzel Dumfries and have identified a possible heir in Michael Kayode. The starlet has had a regular role in his first pro season thanks to Dodo’s injury and has more than held his own.

Per La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Nerazzurri won’t risk losing the Dutchman on a free when his contract is up in 2025. He’ll either prolong it in the next couple of months or be sold in the summer.

Inter signed Tajon Buchanan in the same role in January, but he hasn’t broken through yet, and they will likely add another player if Dumfries departs, with Kayode being the latest entry in their wish list. They also need to decide what to do with Juan Cuadrado, who signed a one-year deal and has been affected by an Achilles injury for most of the campaign.

The 19-year-old was elevated from the Primavera before the start of the season after a great showing in the U-19 Euro. He took over the right-back position after Dodo suffered an ACL tear. He has scored once and recorded 4 assists in 28 total appearances.

Our Take on Inter, Dumfries, and Kayode

They won’t take any chances after what happened with Milan Skriniar; plus, the former PSV star hasn’t played at superstar level this campaign. They can afford to go young since Matteo Darmian is reliable. The question is whether they’ll bring somebody in from another team or just trust Buchanan more.
