Inter Exec Ausilio Criticizes Lukaku for His Behavior

Inter director Piero Ausilio put a bow on the whole Romelu Lukaku affair and revisited some other deals in an interview with RDS Radio Serie A (via Sky)

“I’d rather not to talk about another team’s player, and never did in the last few months. I like to think about the present and the future, while he’s in the past. We won a Scudetto, he allowed us to turn a ‘plusvalenza,’ and lost two finals with him.”

Despite that, Ausilio discussed what happened with Lukaku last summer.

“I just want to say that there must be education and respect. Things were moving along, but those elements went missing at some point. Deals often don’t get completed, but it’s not an issue if those two factors are present. Instead, when somebody hides or sends messages to other people, you just want to move on. It ended on July 8th for me. I have no regrets.”

Ausilio had a final phone call with Lukaku.

“It was stern but nothing special. I relayed my thoughts since I hadn’t managed to reach out to him in a while.”

Ausilio also dished on other transfers

“We negotiated furiously for four days to beat Atletico Madrid for Lautaro Martinez. It wasn’t easy to convince Bayern Munich to sell Benjamin Pavard either. We targeted Yann Sommer because we needed certainties, as Samir Handanovic had left too. He’s an incredible professional and already learned some Italian words before joining.”
