Inter Exec Shoots Down Buzz, Reveals Long-Term Strategy

Inter CEO Giuseppe Marotta quickly came out to dismiss the chatter about the Nerazzurri being interested in Nahitan Nandez, as his agent Pablo Bentancur instead claimed. He spoke to Sky.

“His statements were improvident, to say the least. We have never searched for any of his players. It was something out of place. It’s fake news.”

Marotta reiterated that they would stand pat in January.

“The group at Simone Inzaghi’s disposal has quality and chemistry. I don’t think we have big needs and that we’ll have to turn to the transfer market, which generally doesn’t offer bargains during the winter.”

Marotta was quizzed about potential big sales in the future.

“Sustainability means balancing costs and profits. We’d be ready to answer the call if needed. In any case, we want to keep the players we currently have because this squad has grown together. On the other hand, we have a technical capital that would protect us from any emergency situation.”

Marotta dished on the meaning of his contract extension.

“It gives continuity to the project that started when the Zhang family took over in 2018. It’s also a recognition for me, my collaborators, and the whole team that doesn’t go on the pitch but it’s indispensable to achieve positive results. Directors Piero Ausilio and Dario Baccin work very well. Plus, we’re harmonious.”
