Inter CEO Giuseppe Marotta did not shy away from the recent drama related to the Nerazzurri’s transfer market window. They were pipped at the post by Roma for Paulo Dybala and by Juventus for Gleison Bremer. He talked to DAZN.
“The Argentine is a serious professional. However, we were and are set offensively and have strong qualities there. There was not room, nor the necessity, to add him. Then everything was exploited by the media and we risk to look poorly. We have a good attack and we want to hold onto it. I think Roma are ideal for him. He can be a leader there. I wish him well.”
Marotta confirmed that Inter targeted Bremer at length.
“Director Piero Ausilio worked on him. He is a great player, but our attention to the economic and financial balances did not allow us to conclude the deal. We participated in the race, but then an offer much higher than ours arrived. The buyer and the footballer made their choice. It was a missed opportunity. Executives have to pursue some leads even if the outcome might not go their way.”
The director concluded with some remarks about Milan Skriniar’s future.
“We met with the fans, and it fortified us. We perceived their passion and they asked us for some clarifications. They did not protest. We have the duty to put together a competitive team and safeguard our balance sheets. He is top player and we do not necessarily need to sell him. We received some requests for him, and we will further evaluate that. It is all part of the usual dynamics of the summer. The supporters must be at ease because Inter will always have a worthy roster.”
