Inter Eye Arsenal and Genoa Defenders After Fiasco

Inter will have to explore other options to address their defense after Juventus beat them to the punch for Juan Cabal and are tipped to pursue two who were already on their radar, Arsenal’s Jakub Kiwior and Genoa’s Johan Vasquez, TuttoSport informs (via Zazoom).

Oaktree has invited the management to invest in youngsters rather than veterans. The Nerazzurri inquired about Mario Hermoso and Ricardo Rodriguez but didn’t table an offer thus far for that reason. They had the opportunity to match their rivals’ bid for the Verona talent but elected not to. They had mostly worked on the players’ side.

Inter will poke around Kiwior and Vasquez to see how much it’d cost to purchase them. The Pole has been linked to a few Serie A sides already and might transfer on an initial loan with an option to buy. On the other hand, Arsenal won’t let him go until they snap up Riccardo Calafiori. On that front, the stalemate continues.

Instead, the Grifone already sold Josep Martinez to the Scudetto holders and are fending off their interest in Albert Gudmundsson. The Mexican defender was a key part of their formation last season. Youth product Lorenzo Pirola, who will most likely leave Salernitana after the relegation, has also been rumored to be an option as well.

Our Take on Inter, Kiwior, and Vasquez

Cabal isn’t that great of a player yet, but he would have plugged a hole and will likely grow over the years. It’s still a knock in Giuseppe Marotta’s armor. Unless they find a willing partner, they’ll probably have to spend more or just talk Oaktree into bringing in a free agent.
