Inter Eye Real Madrid and Barcelona Outcasts to Strengthen Midfield

Inter are planning to change the face of their midfield with new players, with the intention of adding deputies into their ranks who can backup starters Nicolo Barella and Marcelo Brozovic in the center-half. Simone Inzaghi has always paid heed to strengthening his midfield prowess and two names have emerged as favorites to arrive at the Giuseppe Meazza.

According to reports from the print edition of Tuttosport (via SempreInter), Real Madrid outcast Dani Ceballos is likened by the club management. The ex-Arsenal player is seeking an exit for more game time after falling out of favour with coach Carlo Ancelotti. His former club Real Betis, Sevilla and Jose Mourinho’s Roma are all said to be eyeing him, but fending off strong interest from the Nerazzurri will take some effort.

On the other hand is former Juventus talisman Miralem Pjanic, who is currently on loan at Turkish giants Besiktas from Barcelona, as per Mundo Deportivo. He is supposed to return to the Camp Nou at the end of the season but there are strong indications that he will not be included in Xavi Hernandez’s season plans for 2022/23.

Inter CEO Giuseppe Marotta is reportedly a huge fan of the 32-year-old Bosnian midfielder since his time at Juventus, having brought him from Roma in the first place when he was heading operations in Turin.

Pjanic would arrive as a direct replacement for Arturo Vidal, who is touted to be released at the end of the season since he does not fit into Simone Inzaghi’s tactical plans.
