Inter Facing Alexis Sanchez ‘Contract Nightmare’

Inter are desperate to move Alexis Sanchez off their books this summer, yet that could be easier said than done. As per FCInter1908, the Chile international has turned down a €4m pay-out to terminate his deal.

Sanchez has another year left to run on his current contract at Giuseppe Meazza. His lucrative deal at the club earns him around €7m per season. But he has no future at Inter, with last season’s Serie A runners-up looking to cut it short this summer.

Romelu Lukaku’s return to Italy, coupled with the Nerazzurri’s pursuit of Paulo Dybala, threatens to push Sanchez further down the pecking order. In fact, Inter cannot afford to accelerate their bid to sign the Argentine until they resolve the Chilean’s situation.

Simone Inzaghi left Sanchez out of his Inter squad for Saturday’s pre-season friendly against Monaco. The omission served to send the 33-year-old a clear message, saying his services are no longer required. Unfortunately, it has fallen on the winger’s deaf ears.

Unless Inter come up with another plan, Sanchez has no intention of denying himself hefty earnings. He is ready to run down his contract at Meazza, which could inflict a fatal blow on the club’s effort to sign Dybala.

Gianluca Di Marzio’s recent report has ruled Inter out of the race for the former Juventus talisman. Per the renowned Italian journalist, via MilanNews, Napoli and Roma are the only real candidates to hand Dybala a lifeline in Serie A.

As for out-of-sorts Sanchez, it may take a substantial chunk of his wages to convince him to sever ties with Inter. The longer the impasse drags on, the Italians will have to pay their fringe forward more for resting on the sidelines.

As things stand right now, a sizeable headache is awaiting Beppe Marotta and his associates.
