Inter Facing Major Obstacles in Their Pursuit of Lazio Midfield Maestro

Inter are bracing for the possibility that Christian Eriksen may be sidelined for a long time following his health scare. They are looking at possible options to add quality to the midfield, and Simone Inzaghi reached out to Luis Alberto. While the player is open to moving, Lazio president Claudio Lotito is hell-bent on hindering the Nerazzurri plans this summer, SportMediaset reports.

The chairman is still sour because the gaffer reneged on their agreement at the last moment once the Inter bench become available. He slapped a €60M price tag on his star, with minimal room to negotiate. It is improbable that the Nerazzurri will be able to dole out that kind of money this summer.

However, the will of Alberto could be a factor in the matter. According to Il Messagero, he is not particularly enthusiastic about Maurizio Sarri’s plans to move him to deep-lying playmaker. His contract has rich bonuses tied up to goals and assists, while he would be distant from the box in such position. The talks did not go beyond a chat between the manager and his former player for now.

Inter and Lazio are also dueling on other fronts. The Beneamata is keen on adding Stefan Radu on a free transfer to replace Aleksandar Kolarov. However, Lotito is planning to offer a richer deal to his defender to retain him. Moreover, Inzaghi sees Felipe Caicedo as an ideal backup for Romelu Lukaku. Despite the Ecuadorian striker having just a year left on his contract, the Biancocelesti are asking for a sizeable sum to let him go.
