Inter Fans Protesting Against Rumored Acerbi Addition

Inter and Lazio are closing in on an agreement for Francesco Acerbi. However, the Nerazzurri will see it through for other targets before finalizing it. Moreover, they also have to weather the complaints by the fans, who don’t want the Biancocelesti defender to join.

As per SportMediaset, the faithful have launched a hashtag on Twitter to oppose the signing. In particular, they are reposting a video of the center-back laughing after a late blunder against Milan.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, just a few details need to be settled between Inter and Lazio in the Acerbi deal. He would transfer on a season-long loan with option to buy. They have to decide whether La Beneamata will pay an initial fee and which team will cover his wages for July and August. The Biancocelesti wouldn’t mind it if he just gave them up.

While the veteran is close, the Nerazzurri are keeping tabs on other options as well. They haven’t completely given up for Manuel Akanji. They have suggested the same formula, but they aren’t on the same page with Borussia Dortmund on the future clause to sign him permanently, La Gazzetta dello Sport reports. Instead, Chelsea could let go of Trevor Chalobah once they acquire somebody else in the same role. However, they prefer a simple loan to a team where he could be a regular, TuttoSport relays.

Our Take on Inter and Acerbi

It’s the most obvious transfer of the summer. The Nerazzurri are right to seek more appealing objectives, in particular somebody that could really challenge Stefan De Vrij. However, they are probably just posturing to show their supporters that they are taking the low-hanging fruit begrudgingly.
