Inter Furious as Star Player Goes Behind Their Back to Negotiate Exit

Serie A holders Inter are furious at Hakan Calhanoglu after finding out about secret negotiations between his entourage and Bayern Munich. According to Gazzetta dello Sport, clandestine talks between Gordon Stipic and the record-time German champions have caused fury within the Giuseppe Meazza hierarchy.

Inter reportedly informed Calhanoglu’s agent that he was untouchable a month ago. However, Stipic has seemingly ignored the club’s instructions as he met Bayern Munich executives to discuss the Turkish midfielder’s future at least once since. And it hasn’t gone down well with Beppe Marotta and his associates.

While recent updates had suggested Inter may ask for around €60m to set Calhanoglu free as they look to get back at the Bundesliga side for ripping them off in the Benjamin Pavard deal last summer, Gazzetta’s report names an even more staggering price. Per the Italian news outlet, Bayern Munich must dish out €70 to get Inter’s go-ahead.

Considering Calhanoglu is already 30, that could be a deal-breaker. There’s no way one of Europe’s most financially savvy teams would splash out such a significant amount on a player on the cusp of his fourth decade. Inter might be counting on Bayern Munich’s careful spending as they hope to keep hold of the ex-Milan playmaker.

But the fact remains Inter and Calhanoglu must sort out these issues. No stranger to pulling off similar shenanigans, he did the same when he forced his Milan exit in 2021. It played to Inter’s hands that time, but they’re now at risk of falling victim to his treacherous nature.
