Inter Grow Frustrated With Romelu Lukaku

Romelu Lukaku’s future at Chelsea has been the subject of frenzied speculation following interest from Inter and Juventus. Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio now claims the former could leave the race after growing frustrated with negotiations’ slow pace.

Lukaku has returned to Stamford Bridge after a season-long loan at Giuseppe Meazza. However, he has no future in London as Chelsea look to sell him to the highest bidder. Inter failed to secure the Belgian’s permanent deal at the first bite of the cherry. Yet they were hopeful of doing it at the second time of asking.

Inter offered Chelsea €35 million plus another €5m in add-ons to bring the 30-year-old back earlier this week. On top of that, Lukaku’s entourages have been working around the clock to arrange his return to Lombardy. But a deal could still go sideways.

Despite their relentless attempts to close things out on short notice, Inter have nothing to show for it. Moreover, they are disappointed with Lukaku’s recent actions. The Belgium international has gone off the grid since moving back to London. Per Di Marzio’s report, the Italians have yet to hear from him.

Like Lukaku’s silence isn’t enough, Juventus are trying to hijack the move. Though the player categorically denied the possibility of wearing the Bianconeri shirt, Inter seem to have found out about secret discussions between the parties. Therefore, they are now re-evaluating their options.

Not long ago, Lukaku’s return looked like a done deal. But it’s no longer the case.
