Robin Gosens has not been particularly impressive during the pre-season, and he picked up a small thigh problem, which has Inter worried considering his injury history. He missed months due to a strain and a relapse before he joined last January.
According to Corriere dello Sport, the Nerazzurri will assess his recovery in the next couple of weeks. It is not out of the question that they will look for another backup in the market to be more at ease. They already signed Raoul Bellanova, plotting to move Matteo Darmian to the left flank to make up for Ivan Perisic’s departure.
Gosens joined Inter on an initial loan in early 2022. The conditions to trigger his €15M obligation to buy have already been met. The Nerazzurri could pay up to €10M more in bonuses. They depend on his personal and the team’s achievements.
While finishing up the rehab, and with Perisic shining in his role, the 28-year-old has starred in just nine matches since moving to Milan. Two major muscular injuries in a row limited to 17 appearances in 2021/2022.
Our Take on Inter and Gosens
The German international is a fine replacement for Perisic, although with a more muscular and less technical style. However, the ease with which Atalanta let him go does raise legitimate suspicion. Bellanova is an excellent get, and he can feature on the left wing too, but a specialist would have been more apt.
The publication reports that Inter have been offered around 20 defenders after missing out on Gleison Bremer. The wise move should be to add one center-back and move up Federico Dimarco. He is way better when he attacks than in the back.
