Inter Had a Meeting with Entourage of Ajax Star Striker

Inter aim to sign a new prolific striker in the summer, and they recently had a summit with the agents of Sebastien Haller. The Nerazzurri want to improve a frontline that has sputtered at times throughout the course of the season. Their top target for the role is Gianluca Scamacca.

La Beneamata expressed preliminary interest in the Ajax marksman as a potential fallback plan, La Gazzetta dello Sport informs. The Dutch club has just been eliminated from the Champions League. The center-forward thrived in such competition, bagging 11 goals. He has hit the net 19 times and provided 7 assists in 23 matches in Eredivisie.

Inter director Piero Ausilio has reportedly been following Haller since his time at Utrecht before he broke out. Ajax signed him for €22M from West Ham last January, and his price tag has only gone up since then. It will take at least €35M to purchase him in the summer, and potentially more if the competition heats up.

The Nerazzurri are preparing some alternatives because the talks with Sassuolo for Scamacca are stalling. The Neroverdi are not budging from their €40M price tag and are not keen on fancy formulas. They were also linked to Lille’s Jonathan David, who is on the radar of several big clubs.

Instead, the road to bring back Romelu Lukaku is exceptionally narrow. It could happen only if Chelsea agreed to a loan. According to the publication, Haller is intrigued by the prospect of joining Inter. The parties promised to keep each other abreast of their respective plans.
