Inter star Federico Dimarco dedicated his wondergoal in a 1-0 triumph against Empoli to his Nerazzurri teammate Marko Arnautovic. The in-form left-back slotted home a sensational volley from outside the box into the top corner to hand Simone Inzaghi’s side another Serie A win.
Harded than expected, Inter made it five consecutive league victories at the Stadio Carlo Castellani ‘to nil,’ courtesy of Dimarco’s ‘goal of the season’ contender. Inzaghi is indebted to the 25-year-old for becoming only the fourth-ever Nerazzurri manager to kick things off in a new Serie A season with five straight wins.
Speaking to the press after handing Inter three points in Tuscany, Dimarco delivered his verdict on a hardly-contested affair at the Castellani.
“This was an important win that sends a message to the rest of the league,” the Inter talisman said, as quoted by FCInterNews. “It wasn’t an easy match, but we’re very happy with the three points.“
Dimarco also looked back at his wonder strike. He paid tribute to Inter returnee Arnautovic following the Austrian’s injury, dedicating the goal to him.
“I want to dedicate my goal to Arnautovic,” Dimarco stated. “Recovering from his injury won’t be easy.“
For the first time this season, Inter failed to score more than once in Serie A. Empoli also held them to their maiden first-half scoring blank, making Dimarco’s moment of brilliance even more significant.
But Inter have no time to rest on their laurels as they welcome Sassuolo to Giuseppe Meazza in midweek Serie A action.
