Eto’o Calls Onana “One of World’s Best”, Compares Him to Inter Icon

The San Siro was lit up with the Integration Heroes Match event that hosted a plethora of legendary names in the beautiful game from the past, including Javier Zanetti, Filippo Inzaghi, Andriy Shevchenko, Andrea Pirlo and Julio Caesar.

Samuel Eto’o, one of the patrons of the event, took the chance to shed his thoughts on a future Inter goalkeeper bound to take the place of the legendary Samir Handanovic.

Fellow Cameroon international Andre Onana is set to join Inter in the summer, and the former Barcelona and Inter icon sees him as one of the world’s best in his position.

“For me he is one of the three best goalkeepers in the world, if not the best. I hope he will give a lot to Inter, but above all a lot to Cameroon. In modern football, having a goalkeeper who can cross the lines with passes of 50 or 60 meters is a factor.” (via La Repubblica)

When quizzed about if he can etch a legacy like Nerazzurri legend Julio Caesar, Eto’o replied modestly.

He said: “”They are from different eras, but for me he is like Julio Cesar in terms of impact.”

The former Inter striker spent three seasons at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza, racking up 53 goals in 102 appearances for the Nerazzurri.
