Spanish football legend Luis Suarez, who starred for Inter as a trequartista during the heyday of Helenio Herrera’s Grande Inter side in the 1960’s, has placed his former team and fellow rivals Milan as the main contenders for the 2022/23 Scudetto title.
Speaking to La Gazzetta dello Sport (via TuttoNapoli) in an exclusive interview, the iconic forward shed thoughts on the upcoming season, citing that the whole season will be a ‘year-long derby’.
“The Scudetto will be a year-long derby. Inter and Milan start on an equal footing, but they are very different. Inzaghi has the Lukaku-Lautaro duo and many motivations, Pioli a great game organization.”
Adding further, he spoke of record Italian champions Juventus and rival big teams.
“Juve are a step below, like Rome, Naples, Lazio. For all of them we have to wait for market developments,” he concluded.
The first Derby della Madonnina of the new season will take place on September 3, as the Nerazzurri aim to reclaim bragging rights and more importantly, the title, from current holders Milan.
