Simone Inzaghi received the Premio Scopigno for his achievements with Inter last year and took stock of the first part of the season.

Inter & In-Demand Simone Inzaghi At Crossroads

Marred by the ongoing ultras scandal, Inter Milan boss Simone Inzaghi has his mind scattered in all directions. Calciomercato took stock of the 48-year-old manager’s imminent future at Giuseppe Meazza and the club’s priorities in the upcoming transfer windows.

After guiding Inter to six major domestic titles, including a landmark 20th Scudetto last term, Inzaghi finds himself at a crossroads. Previously linked with replacing Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool, the ex-Lazio coach has recently emerged as a perfect candidate to take Erik ten Hag’s job at Manchester United.

Inzaghi reportedly turned down the Red Devils’ advances in September, pledging his loyalty to Inter. However, now that he has drawn the Milan Prosecutor Office’s attention amid the raging ultras scandal, no one would blame the trophy-laden manager for second-guessing his options, especially with a lucrative Man Utd offer on the table.

Out of gratitude for his stellar work, Inter handed Inzaghi a massive €6.5 million contract, securing his services until 2026. The former striker has repaid that trust by building a formidable squad featuring senior stars and up-and-coming youngsters. However, it’s worth noting that the average age of Inter’s roster is among the most experienced in Serie A.

Therefore, Inter are focusing on lowering the average age of their squad, which currently stands at 29.1. One of Francesco Acerbi or Stefan de Vrij will wave goodbye to the Nerazzurri at the end of the season, with Yann Bisseck and Tomas Palacios ready to fill the void.

But Inzaghi’s future at the club remains Beppe Marotta’s foremost concern.
