Inter in Early Stages of Chasing Chelsea Defender on a Free

Inter are keeping tabs on a few options to reinforce the defense and recently added Andreas Christensen to the list. The Chelsea defender has only a few months left on his contract. While he has received a robust offer from his own team, he is looking around for other opportunities, Tuttomercatoweb informs.

The Blues proposed a four-year contract at around the same salary he is making now, the site adds. Instead, the center-back is hopeful of getting a raise, in London or elsewhere. His wages are just shy of €5M, so they are not excessive for the Nerazzurri and further teams eyeing him.

On top of Inter, Barcelona are also tracking Christensen. However, they seem keener on his teammate Cesar Azpilicueta, who is in the same contractual situation, the outlet informs. Their bid is reportedly similar to Chelsea’s one. Newcastle, Bayern Munich, and Arsenal also expressed some interest. However, the center-back appears unwilling to join rival Premier League clubs.

Inter have touched base with the entourage of Christensen in January. The talks between the parties have been preliminary, and they have discussed the numbers yet. If he does not come to terms with other sides in the short term, they will have a meeting during the spring.

The 25-year-old has collected 153 appearances with Chelsea since 2014. He also spent a couple of seasons on loan at Borussia Moenchengladbach when he was younger. He contributed to the Blues’ successful run in Champions League last year and is already familiar with a three-man defense.
