Mehdi Taremi is one of the options to strengthen the Inter attack, but they’d have to spend lavishly to purchase him for Porto. The Nerazzurri whittled down their shortlist to three names. The other two are Folarin Balogun and Norberto Beto.
According to Gianluca di Marzio, Giuseppe Marotta and co. got in touch with Porto Tuesday. The counterpart hasn’t lowered its request relative to when Milan were chasing after the Iranian marksman. They want €30M, even though he has just one year on this contract.
Tottenham are rivaling Inter in the chase for Taremi, which fuels his team’s hefty demands. It remains to be seen whether the Nerazzurri will be willing to shell out such a sum for a 31-year-old.
Director Piero Ausilio was quizzed about their search for a new striker by Mediaset.
“We are looking for somebody that can score. Balogun? He’s one of the possibilities, but we aren’t pursuing just him. Romelu Lukaku? I don’t care about him.”
Our Take on Inter and Taremi
They could use somebody of his ilk to have a well-assorted frontline, but they won’t disburse that much for a veteran. Beto is only on paper a physical option as, despite his size, he’s more of a speedster than somebody that works well back-to-the-goal or in the interplay with other attackers. They’ll probably have to keep seeking.
