Inter Keen on Potentially Cheap Boca Juniors Defender

Nicolas Valentini will be a hot commodity in the summer, as he has decided to leave Boca Juniors on a free, and Inter are among his most determined suitors. Their deputy director Dario Baccin scouted him a few times during his trips to South America, La Gazzetta dello Sport informed.

The defender has been frozen out after relaying his decision to the club despite being a staple. His contract expires in December. He asked for a pay raise a year ago, but the team never met his demands. The latest offer from the Xeneizes confirmed his current salary, about €100k pear year.

Valentini has been linked to a few Italian clubs, for instance Fiorentina, but Inter have followed him very attentively in recent months. He has appeared 47 times across all competitions with Boca after a season on loan at Aldovisi. He’s a fixture of Argentina U-23. The center-back earned his first-team call-up recently.

The Nerazzurri will have to combat several Spanish and English sides that will try to sign him at a discounted price next summer taking advantage of the situation.

Our Take on Inter and Valentini

It’s a great opportunity to snap up a talent for cheap in a position of need. It doesn’t hurt that he’s a lefty, which would make them whole. It remains to be seen whether Boca will negotiate his transfer rather than lose him for nothing. Moreover, the Nerazzurri and other teams might wait for a Bosman addition.
