Inter Keep in Touch with Main Attacking Summer Target

Inter hosted a mediator close to Mehdi Taremi in recent days. They reiterated that they want to bring him in for free at the end of the season and not in January. It’s far from certain Porto would let him go early for a low sum anyway, TuttoSport informs (via Fantacalcio)

The Nerazzurri can’t technically sign him now because they filled their second and final spot for an extra-EU signing with Tajon Buchanan. They had used the other for Alexis Sanchez. The marksman started the paperwork to get a Portuguese passport. It’s more likely to get sorted in the coming months rather than in the next three weeks.

Inter wish to come to terms with Taremi soon to avoid negative surprises. They were already burned by another team for Tiago Djaló, who’s in the same contractual situation. Moreover, the Iranian center-forward has been called up for the AFC Asian Cup.

The 31-year-old hasn’t been productive as in past campaigns so far. He has put up 6 goals and 4 assists in 24 appearances across all competitions.

Our Take on Inter and Taremi

If the Nerazzurri had even a hint the deal would be possible in the winter, they wouldn’t have signed Buchanan, as there were a few options in that role. They don’t have many alternatives but hoping another suitor doesn’t come over the top with a strong offer for a veteran with just six months on his deal.
