Inter Latest Team to Inquire About Demoted Roma Midfielder

After extending Marcelo Brozovic’s contract, Inter are looking for his potential backup next season, and they have set their sights on Jordan Veretout. The Roma midfielder would be able to play in multiple roles, and he is likely to leave the Italian Capital, La Gazzetta dello Sport informs.

The Frenchman is more of a box-to-box but has previous experience at the position. He would add valuable depth, and he is a quality free-kick taker. He has lost his starting job following the January addition of Sergio Olivera. While ruling out a move to Napoli, his agent hinted that he would transfer elsewhere in the summer.

According to the outlet, Veretout would have Inter atop his shortlist should the Nerazzurri tried to get him. On the other hand, his price tag is still considerable. The Giallorossi want €15-20M to part ways with him. They recently rebuffed Olympique Marseille, which had offered €8M. It would be a sizeable investment for a 29-year-old. However, the two clubs have helped each other a few times in the past and might do it again.

Inter have been linked to another Roma player for the same tasks on top of Veretout, Gonzalo Villar, who is younger and currently spending time on loan to Getafe. They also like Boubacar Kamara, who will leave Olympique Marseille in June. Although, Atletico Madrid are leading the race to capture him on a Bosman move.

The Nerazzurri have begun eyeing different midfielders also because Sassuolo are putting up strong resistance for Davide Frattesi, TuttoSport informs. His price tag has ballooned to €25M, and Juventus have joined the race rather vigorously. Roma, which would have a discount since they hold the rights to 30 percent of a future sale, and Napoli are also pursuing the starlet.
