Inter Lay Eyes on Three South American Touted Talents

Inter have often had success signing youngsters from South America during the course of their history. Deputy sporting director Dario Baccin has embarked on a mission to monitor some players that could come in handy in the next windows, La Gazzetta dello Sport reports.

One of the top names on their radar is Abner, a 20-year-old left-back that plays for Atletico Paranaense. He could be an option to succeed Ivan Perisic if the management did not convince him to sign an extension. He was part of the Brazilian Olympic Team that took home the gold in Tokyo. The player could work well as a wing-back due to his offensive prowess. He has logged 5 assists in 37 appearances so far, scoring once. His price tag is around €10M.

Inter have also joined the complex race for Julian Alvarez, who is drawing interest from Milan, Juventus, and several top clubs across Europe. The Nerazzurri have no intention of selling Lautaro Martinez, but the River Plate starlet would be a natural heir. The attacker might soon agree to a short-term contract to allow his team to have more leverage in the negotiations with the various suitors, the newspaper adds.

Inter are also keeping tabs on another Alvarez, Augustin, who plays at Penarol. The 20-year-old center-forward has been highly prolific since bursting onto the scenes. He has found the target 23 times in 38 matches in the 2020-2021 season. He has a big sponsor in Alvaro Recoba, who is still in touch with a few directors of the Nerazzurri.
