Former Nerazzurri legend Christian Vieri believes Inter are favourites for the Serie A title after the departure of star striker Cristiano Ronaldo to Manchester United from Juventus.
The Portuguese has departed from the Bianconeri ranks after a three year spell in which he won two Scudetti, one Coppa Italia and two Supercoppa Italiana titles. And Vieri is of the opinion that his departure has significantly weakened Juventus, which goes without saying, thus giving Simone Inzaghi’s side an advantage to retain the Scudetto championship.
Speaking to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Vieri commented: “Who wins the Scudetto? Before Cristiano Ronaldo left I said: Juve attack stronger, Juve are stronger. Now I put Inter in front. I’m not convinced when I hear speeches like ‘now Dybala, Morata and Chiesa will give more.”
Juventus managed to bring in Moise Kean from Everton in order to boost their attacking options, but Vieri is not convinced that the Bianconeri possess the same firepower as before.
“When Ronaldo leaves, there is no better choice, someone else will have to score the goals he scored. Kean? I don’t think so, but you have to judge him after a whole championship,” he said.
The run for this year’s Scudetto will be a tight one as city rivals Milan are also touted to be contenders after closing in on the title towards the end of last season, when they essentially gave up the first place to Inter.
