Inter Line Up More Foreign Options to Shore Up Left Wing

Filip Kostic and Robin Gosens are the top Inter targets to bolster the left flank. The Nerazzurri are mulling over making an investment in the role. They will likely have to bring in two pieces between January and June given Ivan Perisic’s uncertain future. It is not easy to convince Eintracht Frankfurt and Atalanta, though.

The rumors about Aleksandr Kolarov leaving the team are intensifying. He could either retire right away or finish his career elsewhere. While he has barely played this season, his departure would open up a hole.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Inter have earmarked two alternatives in case they could not sign their primary objectives for the left wing. They are keeping tabs on RB Leipzig’s Angelino and Leicester City’s Timothy Castagne. They are not easy to obtain either. The same goes for Borussia Moenchengladbach’s Ramy Bensebaini.

Angelino has been a linchpin of the German club in the past two-and-a-half seasons. He has logged 80 appearances, scoring 9 goals and providing 23 assists. The Spanish wingback completed a €20M move from Manchester City last July, as he originally joined on loan. He previously played at Mallorca, NAC Breda, and PSV.

Castagne has the advantage of having previous Serie A experience. He spent three years at Atalanta, scoring 8 times and setting up 10 teammates in 96 matches. He transferred to the Premier League in 2020 for a €20M fee. The 26-year-old Belgian international has had a consistent role with the Foxes. He is currently recovering from a major thigh injury, like Gosens.
