Inter Linked to Borussia Moenchengladbach Star to Bolster the Attack

The Inter search for a new striker has taken them abroad. After Wout Weghorst, the Nerazzurri have laid their eyes on another Bundesliga forward: Marcus Thuram. In this case, they have an ally in Mino Raiola, with whom they successfully negotiated the transfer of Denzel Dumfries.

Despite his size, Thuram is a versatile and mobile attacker that can also play on the flanks. He is among the list of targets Inter are evaluating to further strengthen their frontline after signing Edin Dzeko, Gianluca Di Marzio reports. Instead, they see Lorenzo Insigne more as a replacement for Alexis Sanchez, who might be on his way out given his high salary.

Thuram was part of the French squad in the recent Euro. He has bagged 25 goals and tallied 21 assists in 80 matches with Borussia Moenchengladbach in the last 2 seasons, drawing interest from multiple big teams. Raiola directly offered him to Inter during their recent talks, La Gazzetta dello Sport informs. However, his price tag is over €30M.

The 24-year-old faced the Nerazzurri in the past Champions League. He cost them the qualification to the Round of 16 with a brace in San Siro. He has two years left on his contract, but he is quite expensive, like Duvan Zapata. The Italian newspaper believes Joaquin Correa will eventually be the choice. However, Inter need Lazio to lower their demands, as they asked for €37M. If they purchase a second-striker and not a pure center-forward, Lautaro Martinez would play more as a no.9, like he does with Argentina.
