Inter Make Some Progress in Extension Talks with Perisic

Inter have not entirely given up hopes on keeping Ivan Perisic. The winger has only a few months left on his deal. The negotiation to prolong it had been dormant for a few months. However, the parties recently resumed talking, La Gazzetta dello Sport informs.

They had a preliminary meeting earlier in the week. The last summit dated back to last November, and its outcome left the impression he would depart at the end of the season. The entourage of the attacker asked for €6M, €1M more than what he is currently making. Instead, the Nerazzurri intended to lower his annual salary and still do.

Perisic has yet to find a club that could offer him as much as he wants and has decided to re-engage the negotiation with Inter, the newspaper informs. On top of his sizeable contractual demands, he wishes to play only in top-level teams. Such aspect favors La Benamata.

The management and the representatives of the Croatian did not go into detail on the figures right away in the most recent rendezvous. The atmosphere was serene, though. The agents did not start from the base salary they previously requested. They will convene again in a couple of weeks.

Inter would like to reach agreement with Perisic at €4M per year until 2024. It remains a steep hill to climb, but they have better chances than in previous weeks. The potential alternative landing spots, primarily Manchester United and some Bundesliga teams, have not made a decisive move to sign him, the outlet informs.
