Inter Move Step Closer Towards Securing High-Profile Replacement for Achraf Hakimi

PSV Eindhoven right-back Denzel Dumfries is reportedly close to joining Inter as a replacement for Achraf Hakimi. According to Dutch outlet Telegraaf (via SempreInter), the Netherlands international could soon arrive in Italy with his agent Mino Raiola to complete his move to the Giuseppe Meazza.

Inter are in the market for a new right-back to fill the void left by Hakimi’s departure for Paris Saint-Germain earlier this week. The Nerazzurri are hopeful of landing an attacking-minded right-sided star to replace the Moroccan, who had seven goals and 11 assists to his name last season.

Dumfries’ eye-catchings showings at Euro 2020 have brought him under the spotlight, with Inter failing to stay immune to his charms. The 25-year-old’s tireless runs down the right flank and his ability to score goals are reminiscent of Hakimi.

Indeed, the Dutchman bears much resemblance to the Moroccan, which makes him a perfect candidate to team up with Simone Inzaghi’s side this summer. Dumfries’ propensity for bursting forward is ideal for Inter’s 3-5-2 formation, and there’s a reasonable chance for the deal to go through in the upcoming period.

It’s yet to be seen how much would PSV demand to sanction their star’s sale, with Everton and several other top clubs also showing appreciation for Dumfries’ skills. The highly-rated defender has been on an upward spiral since the start of Euro 2020 and has a host of admirers across Europe, which could pose a problem for Inter.

PSV are reportedly ready to cash in on their sought-after right-back, but the Nerazzurri will have to overcome stiff competition to bring Dumfries to Serie A this summer.
