Inter Name Excessive Price Tag for Bayern Munich-Linked Calhanoglu

Serie A champions Inter are poised to give Bayern Munich a ‘taste of their own medicine’ amidst the Germans’ pursuit of Hakan Calhanoglu. According to Calciomercato, the Nerazzurri have pinned a significant €60 million price tag on the Turkey international’s head to fend off the Bavarian powerhouse.

Several outlets broke the story of secret negotiations between Calhanoglu and Bayern Munich earlier this week. Yesterday, Inter turned down the Bundesliga outfit’s opening €40m bid for the 30-year-old. However, it hasn’t deterred Vincent Kompany’s side from piecing together a new offer.

Anything less than €60m will not be enough to price the ex-Milan playmaker out of Inter. Last summer, the Italians had to pay a premium price to lure Benjamin Pavard to Giuseppe Meazza. Despite having less than a year left to run on his contract at the Allianz Stadium, Bayern Munich made Inter pay €30m for the Frenchman.

It seems that Inter president Beppe Marotta hasn’t let that one slide. Only 12 months on, he’s in a position to do the Germans what they did to him last year. The 20-time Serie A champions are unwilling to budge on their valuation of Calhanoglu, whose contract in Lombardia runs out in 2027.

Aware they’re in a position of strength, Inter will try to squeeze out every penny from Bayern Munich if the Turk tries to force his way out. Simone Inzaghi would ideally keep hold of his talismanic midfielder, who had an outstanding season in 2023/24 en route to being named the Serie A Player of the Season.
