Inter Need to Step Up Their Efforts to Acquire Bento

Inter have Bento at the top of their wish list for the summer since they won’t activate their option to keep Emil Audero. Rather than another pure backup, they’d like to onboard somebody who could take over from Yann Sommer in a year since their starter is 35, La Gazzetta dello Sport informed.

The Brazilian has been in stellar form as of late and just debuted with La Seleçao in a friendly. The Nerazzurri have been closely following him for at least 18 months. His recent showings only solidified their beliefs about his quality.

While Inter might have started pursuing Bento before other sides, they haven’t gained an inside track to sign him. Athletico Paranaense inserted a €60M release clause in his contract. It won’t be necessary to tender that much, but his valuation is around €20M, which might still be too much for the Nerazzurri, especially early in the summer.

Despite recent rumors, Chelsea don’t seem to be actively working on such a deal. Still, the goalie surely has more than a few different suitors in the Premier League and La Liga. Milan have also been mildly attached to him should things break down with Mike Maignan.

Our Take on Inter and Bento

Despite their caliber, the prospect of coming in as a deputy isn’t enticing for somebody just entering his prime, especially if he had equally good offers. Given his price tag, they might have to pick and choose among their priorities.
