Inter Negotiating Extensions with Three Key Members of the Squad

Inter have been working on multiple contract extensions after the end of the summer window. They wish to prolong the deals of Lautaro Martinez, Nicolò Barella and Marcelo Brozovic. The talks with the entourages of the three linchpins are at different stages.

As for the star striker, only the official announcement is missing at this point. According to Gianluca Di Marzio, the parties have reached an agreement. El Toro just needs to settle some personal details before putting pen-to-paper. His agent Alejandro Camano already announced they had come to terms.

Instead, the negotiation with Brozovic is trickier. His current contract expires in June 2022, and he has asked for a considerable pay raise. Inter will hold a meeting with his agent after the international break. A few foreign teams are eyeing the midfielder for a potential Bosman move. The Croatian would like to reach the same wages of newcomer Hakan Calhanoglu. It is uncertain whether the management will indeed satisfy him.

On the other hand, the Nerazzurri fully plan to reward Barella with a longer contract and a richer salary. The front office met with his representative Alessandro Beltrami in Kyiv after the most recent Champions League bout. The parties began discussing the figures, and the intention to continue together is mutual. The Italian international is tied to the club until 2024; therefore, they are less in a hurry in this instance. With such move, Inter would stave off the interest coming from the top European sides that are constantly monitoring the 24-year-old standout.
