Inter Not Entirely Out of the Race for Gudmundsson Yet

Inter haven’t abandoned hope of signing Albert Gudmundsson despite their execs’ remarks about him and Fiorentina making strides to onboard him in recent days. Genoa are tracking several strikers but haven’t found a replacement yet, La Gazzetta dello Sport informs.

La Viola is concerned with the delay since it opens the door to other sides interfering. They have an agreement in principle with the Grifone on a €25M package. The deal is also holding up Nico Gonzalez, who wants to move to Juventus.

On the other hand, Inter have stayed in touch with Gudmundsson m. The player himself wants to wait before deciding his future to explore whether he could go to a top team.

Genoa also need a center-forward due to Mateo Retegui’s departure and could be interested in Marko Arnautovic. His salary is too large for them, but the Nerazzurri would be willing to facilitate things if they got the Icelandic striker. It’d be an initial swap of loans.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, La Viola promised Gonzalez he’d be sold to a Champions League team after rejecting the offers from Leicester City and Brentford last year. The attacker wants the officials to keep their word.

Our Take on Inter and Gudmundsson

They shouldn’t be counted out until he puts pen to paper for another team as their pull factor is very strong and they have been at it for months. The longer it takes, the fewer chances Fiorentina have. The search for a substitute is only partially at fault. It’d be particularly detrimental as it’d leave them hanging as it pertains to their star.
