Inter and Sampdoria are putting the finishing touches on the negotiation for Stefano Sensi. The midfielder is expected to take the medicals Thursday and move on loan. The Nerazzurri are unlikely to bring in another piece in the role at this stage, La Gazzetta dello Sport reports.
The scenario would change if Matias Vecino bolted as well. However, the Uruguayan international has not found a destination where he would be a regular yet. He seems destined to stay and pick his next team when he will be out of contract next summer.
Inter have earmarked Morten Thorsby, but he will not be part of the Sensi package. The hiring of Marco Giampaolo was key to sway the player. The two talked at length on the phone before the 26-year-old signed off on the move. He also had a chat with Roberto Mancini, who is still taking him into consideration, Sky reports. The Italy gaffer advised him to transfer to Genoa to play more. He turned down Valencia and Napoli, where he would have had a lesser role.
The 26-year-old has played just 169 minutes across 11 appearances thus far. The Nerazzurri have six other midfielders on the roster. They pursued Gonzalo Villar before he joined Getafe, while they do not appear to be in the mix for Nahitan Nandez. If necessary, they will promote Mattia Sangalli from the Primavera squad, whom Simone Inzaghi likes a lot. Sensi joined Inter from Sassuolo for €22M, but his stay has been derailed by injuries.
