Inter Eager to Bolster Rearguard Amid De Vrij and Skriniar Hurdles

Inter are eagerly shortlisting names to add to their defensive line, as contract negotiations with center-back duo Stefan De Vrij and Milan Skriniar seem to be heading nowhere. Although it is expected that at least one of the two stoppers will renew with the club, the management is making sure they are not left lacking at the back.

As per Calciomercato, Inter want to take advantage of Smalling’s uncertain future at Roma and bring him to the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza. Smalling has the option to extend his Giallorossi contract to an additional year ahead of June 2023 when his current deal expires.

Inter are ready to offer a two-year contract to Smalling having already made initial contacts with his entourage, but the player’s choice is currently unknown.

Atalanta defender Giorgio Scalvini is another realistic target who has been trailed by some of the biggest clubs in the country.
