Inter and his CEO Giuseppe Marotta hoped to strike a deal with Milan Skriniar by the start of the World Cup, which obviously didn’t happen.

Inter Now Touted to Keep Skriniar Despite PSG Offer

Gleison Bremer joining Juventus is likely to impact the Inter plans regarding the sale of Milan Skriniar. While the negotiation with PSG has been going on for a while, the parties are not close to an agreement. The Nerazzurri plan to hold firm on their demands. They would rather keep him with their preferred replacement no longer an option, La Gazzetta dello Sport reports.

There have been no new contacts between the two clubs. The French champions last proposed €60M, including add-ons, while La Beneamata wants €70M. They do not believe the counterparty will further raise their bid. According to L’Equipe, they might keep Presnel Kimpembé despite the interest from Chelsea. Moreover, they are eyeing Sporting CP’s defensive prodigy Inacio, Le Parisien informs.

Inter never pushed Skriniar out the door but had identified him as the most profitable piece they could be able to substitute. That is no longer the case. They are ready to reward him with a large contract once the transfer market window is over. The parties could easily come to terms on a long-term deal with €6M wages, which would be on a par with Lautaro Martinez and Marcelo Brozovic.

If PSG did not relaunch their efforts, the Nerazzurri would work on the fringes to satisfy their financial obligations. However, with the next balance sheet session closing on June 30th, 2023, the large sale they need may be postponed to January or early next summer.

Our Take on Inter Keen on Keeping Skriniar

That would be the only acceptable outcome after the Bremer fiasco, and it would preserve the elite level reached by their rearguard in the second half of last season. On the other hand, one has to wonder who will pop up as a candidate to depart next if the Slovak does stay.
