Inter and Verona have set up the transfer of Juan Cabal to Milan. The buyers are waiting for Oaktree’s final greenlight to finalize the acquisition. The Italian champions will spend about €10M for the defender, Sky informs (via Mediaset).
The Nerazzurri weighed their options after losing Tajon Buchanan for multiple months due to a fibula fracture. They eventually landed on the youngster, as their ownership prefers, after assessing two veteran free agents, Mario Hermoso and Ricardo Rodriguez.
According to Leggo, Inter and Verona have agreed on the valuation, and Cabal has accepted the contract. It’ll be a five-year deal with €1.2M wages. He’ll earn thrice as much he’s making with the Scaligeri. However, there’s still a chance talent Issiaka Kamate gets inserted into the package. He has a €4M price tag. It remains to be seen what the formula for him would eventually be.
The 23-year-old Colombian joined in a €3.5M move from Atletico Nacional two years ago. He logged 11 appearances in his first season and became the starting left-back from January on, featuring 22 times in 2023/2024. He has yet to debut with his national team.
Our Take on Inter and Cabal
The fit is seamless and, unlike a similar recent newcomer, Yann Aurel Bisseck, he has the advantage of previous Serie A experience. He wasn’t always fully convincing last season but has grown a lot since becoming a regular and has ideal physical traits. There’s no reason Oaktree wouldn’t okay the signing. Their fingerprints are already all over it, as Giuseppe Marotta and co. would have probably gladly onboarded Hermoso or Rodriguez and saved on the fee for a backup.
