Inter Open Talks to Try Onboarding Fiorentina Defender

Nikola Milenkovic is reportedly climbing the Inter shortlist of defensive reinforcements. The Nerazzurri had some contacts to test the waters in the last few days. The 24-year-old has just one more year on his contract with Fiorentina.

According to Sky, La Beneamata plan to add two center-backs this summer. Backups Andrea Ranocchia and Aleksandar Kolarov will leave as their deals run out in June. The Serbian center-back would not necessarily be mutually exclusive with the addition of Bremer. They have long reached agreement with him on personal terms, but not with Torino, the publication informs.

Inter are eyeing Milenkovic also because they will likely lose one of their starters. Alessandro Bastoni is highly sought-after, even though his agent said he would “100 percent” stay. PSG are tracking Milan Skiriniar, who recently committed to the Nerazzurri as well. Stefan De Vrij is drawing interest from England, Gianluca Di Marzio informs.

Our Take on Inter Pursuing Milenkovic

The Fiorentina defender is a steady hand and is still fairly young, but he is no Bremer. Still, having him as a backup option would be rich and does not seem particularly plausible. Inter, Juventus and Milan have routinely set sights on Milenkovic in recent years. However, he always wound up staying. With Fiorentina on an upward trajectory, it would take a juicy offer to lure him away. The ideal scenario for the Nerazzurri would be to keep Skriniar and Bastoni and sell De Vrij, replacing him with the Torino star. It may not work out financially, though.
