Inter Owner Zhang Elated for Final, Confirms Inzaghi

Inter president Steven Zhang rejoiced for eliminating Milan and quashed the doubts about the future of coach Simone Inzaghi in his post-game remarks to Sportitalia.

“Reaching the Champions League final is incredible and doesn’t happen every season. Everything will be possible throughout the 90 minutes in Istanbul. It’s my seventh year here. There were players that had never starred in such competition, and now we have gotten this far. Until we are here, we’ll work to keep the team at this level. Every window offers the opportunity to invest. The results prove that we have done well every time. Our goal is to build an increasingly strong squad.”

Zhang was highly complementary of Inzaghi.

“I’ve seen many gaffers already even though I’m just 31. He’s special. He’s always calm and serene. That’s his peculiarity. He never asks for any player in particular. There’s no reason to change now. We haven’t even discussed such topic, and it’s not on our minds. We are ready to start the third season with him. He’ll be our manager long-term.”

Zhang expounded on the significance of their achievement.

“It’s a great satisfaction that proves that we are on the right track. Our efforts are paying off. It’s not over, though, as there’s one game left. We avenged what happened 20 years ago. I will remember this night for the rest of my life. As long as I’m president, our objective will always be just to win and bring joy and enthusiasm.”

“I didn’t expect to go all the way. Romelu Lukaku was the only one that believed we could do it right from the start of the season. I thought he was crazy when he told me back then, but here we are.”
