Inter succumbed for the first time in the season against Sassuolo, conceding twice after putting up strong defensive numbers beforehand. In particular, their players on the left-hand side of the pitch failed to guard the opponents properly on the two goals, which raised questions about Simone Inzaghi’s lineup choices, OneFootball relays.

The Nerazzurri also had some problems on the other end too. Lautaro Martinez looked spent. Marcus Thuram stopped being effective after an hour. One of the two would have rested initially if Marko Arnautovic didn’t get hurt. The only offensive backup is 34-year-old Alexis Sanchez.

While unfortunate for them, it’s good for Serie A that they aren’t a juggernaut; plus, Sassuolo are a nuisance for everybody and deserve the credit. Inzaghi was criticized for the opposite reason after the Real Sociedad game.
